The time has arrived, and the “New Year Resolutions” are starting to be formed in the minds of many people. Some, I’m sure wouldn’t mind losing a few pounds. Others are probably thinking about putting on a few pounds, while even more might be trying to kick bad habits of addictions, attitude problems or simply working on becoming closer to family and friends. Some might even be trying to reconcile a marriage throughout the next year. Whether you are trying to lose some weight or drop the cigarettes and/or alcohol I urge you to make a close realization of your relationship with Jesus Christ before you make the decision to quit, shave off or adjust anything this coming year. You see, with anything building a sturdy foundation is key to building a long-lasting structure in life. If Christ is our Rock, I ask you what makes a better foundation than the LORD Himself?
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” -Psalm 18:2
So I say it once more, before you make any sudden decisions this coming year for your “New Years Resolution” get your relationship together with Jesus Christ first and then build your foundation on Him alone. He will be your source for encouragement, hope, love, strength, peace and in all things build you up to be the most precious jewel you were born to be.
“In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.” -Psalm 18:6
